CMS announces delay in Medicare payments  

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that, due to the government shutdown, Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) will hold claims beyond the standard 14-day period for claims submitted on or after Oct.1. This applies to all claims paid under the current Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

Physicians may submit claims during this period, but payment will not be released until the hold is lifted. CMS did not provide a timeline for when the hold will be lifted.
